The Bluegrass IIBA Chapter is a non-profit professional association established in August 2013 to serve the business community of the Bluegrass region of Kentucky. We welcome professionals of all disciplines who deliver organizational change including business analysis, business management, project management, product management, quality assurance and control, change management, consultants and recruiters.

The Objectives of the Bluegrass IIBA Chapter are to:
- Champion Business Analysis excellence by providing an educational program, promoting best practices, and creating opportunities for practitioners to grow personally and professionally.
- Develop Business Analysis practitioners and leaders who deliver organizational results.
- Cultivate alliances with organizations in the community to advance the profession in the Bluegrass.
- Provide networking opportunities for business professionals to learn from each other.
Our Core Values
Our History
Aaron Whittenberger, IIBA Director of the Americas Eastern Region, contacted people in the Central Kentucky region interested in Business Analysis starting in July 2013. Over 70 people indicated their interest in starting a local chapter of the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA®). Several people got involved to launch the new chapter for business analysis and business change professionals.
2020's
2023
We held our tenth AGM and inducted our eighth class of two individuals into the BBAHoF in May. Chicagoland Chapter joins us as a co-host of our Social Event to 'Build Our Community'. The Chapter gains its fifth chapter sponsor. The Chapter's LinkedIn community reaches 2,500. We held Winter Socials in three cities in December. The Chapter ends the year with 218 members.
2024
We held our 11th AGM and inducted our ninth class of 3 individuals into the BBAHoF in May. During the summer we negotiated with three training providers to provide new training formats to our community. During the Board strategic planning session in July, we revamped our Vision and Mission statements, developed Core Values, and proposed Bylaws changes. Our membership ratified the proposed Bylaws changes in September.
2020
In April, chapter membership reaches 100. In May, held our seventh AGM and inducted our fifth class of 2 people into the BBAHoF. In September, we held our first Bluegrass Business Analysis Conference (BBAC) with 73 participants. We won the Chapter of the Year Award in November. Chapter membership is 114 at the end of the year.
2021
In May, IIBA Harmonization drops chapter membership from 121 to 93. We held our eighth AGM and inducted our sixth class of 3 people into the BBAHoF. We held virtual community events, including a Community Poll Party, Boo Bash, and Holiday Social Event. The Chapter ends the year with 122 members.
2022
We elected the fourth President of the chapter. We held our ninth AGM and inducted our seventh class of people into the BBAHoF in May. In August, we launched the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati Branch serving the Greater Cincinnati community. Bluegrass Chapter collaborates with Southeast Michigan Chapter to deliver a new Social Event to 'Build a Community'. The Chapter ends the year with 175 members.
2010's
2016
We held our BABOK Study Group with 18 participants local and remote. In May, we held our third AGM, inducted our first class into the BBAHoF and raised membership to 51. In July, we introduced the BA Talks video series. In November, we won the Innovation Chapter Award from IIBA. In December, we held our fourth Winter Social at Belle Notte and published our first newsletter.
2017
In May, we held our fourth AGM and inducted our second class of 3 people into the BBAHoF. In June, we held a BABOK Study Group with 17 participants. In November, we held a chapter awards watch party at The Pub, where we won the Community Outreach Chapter Award from IIBA.
2018
Launched the Kentuckiana Branch serving the Louisville and Southeast Indiana community in February. In April, we had a vendor booth at Commerce Lexington trade show. The membership elects the third President of the chapter. In November, we won the Leadership Excellence Chapter Award.
2013
Aaron Whittenberger organizes people interested in starting an IIBA chapter, fills Board of Director positions in August, then holds the first program meeting in November 2013, with Terry Wiegmann of Columbus, Ohio speaking. We held our first Winter Social at BD's Mongolian Grill.
2014
We held our first Annual General Meeting (AGM) in May. Our petition to become an IIBA chapter is approved by IIBA in October. Also in October we held our first Leadership Fair. In November, our Membership ratifies the chapter Bylaws. By year end, we raise membership to 23 and held our second Winter Social.
2015
Received our charter from IIBA, making us an official IIBA chapter. In May, we held our second AGM and our first BABOK Study Group. Launched the Green Mountain Branch in Burlington, VT. We launched the Bluegrass Business Analysis Hall of Fame (BBAHoF) in October. In December, held our third Winter Social, playing BA Feud, and raised membership to 43.
