Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need AI experience to participate?
- No prior AI experience is required. Week 1 is dedicated to building the literacy and conceptual foundation you need before diving into the skill-based work. If you have already used AI tools at work, you will find the foundation week a useful way to fill in gaps and sharpen your mental model.
Which AI tool do I need? Can I use the free version?
- Participants must have an active paid subscription to one of the following: ChatGPT (Plus or higher), Claude (Pro or higher), or Microsoft Copilot (M365 Copilot or equivalent). Free tiers do not provide the consistent access and capability required to complete the portfolio exercises. If you are unsure which to choose, your instructor can advise during the first session.
What is the portfolio, and what do I do with it?
- Each skill has a corresponding portfolio exercise where you produce real work output using AI, then document what you did, what the AI contributed, and what you verified or changed. By the end of Week 6, you have a structured record of 15 completed, employer-ready work samples. You can share this as a standalone document, a section of your LinkedIn profile, or as supporting evidence during a job search or performance review.
How much time should I expect to spend outside of class?
- Each week includes homework assignments tied to the skill exercises. Plan for roughly 2 to 3 hours of work outside of scheduled sessions per week. This is a serious professional program, and the portfolio is only as strong as the effort you put into the exercises.
