Bluegrass IIBA Volunteer Spotlight: Patricia Carlin Earns the Collaboration and Engagement Award

Our Volunteer Spotlight Series continues with Patricia Carlin, recipient of the Collaboration and Engagement Award. This award recognizes a volunteer who builds connections, both within our chapter and with the wider business analysis community. Patricia has been doing exactly that since she joined the team.

Patricia joined the Bluegrass IIBA Chapter Leadership Team at the beginning of 2026 as Vice President of Community Outreach and Engagement. She stepped into a role with a strong foundation, as the chapter has long had a vibrant community program, and she has kept that momentum going.

One of the ways Patricia has strengthened the chapter’s reach is through collaboration with other IIBA chapters. She has continued what her predecessor had started by planning and facilitating the Agile After Hours event, which the Bluegrass Chapter hosts together with the Southeast Michigan and Chicagoland IIBA Chapters. Partnering across chapters gives members the chance to learn from and connect with business analysis professionals well beyond Kentucky.

In her first year in the position, Patricia also facilitated an IIBA Membership Scholarship raffle, creating a new opportunity for members of our community to benefit from IIBA membership.

Patricia has also helped plan the first in-person Happy Hour the chapter has held, an event that gives members a chance to connect face to face. Throughout her work on the Chapter Leadership Team, she regularly brings fresh ideas to the table, helping the chapter think about new ways to engage its members.

Through cross-chapter partnerships, member giveaways, new in-person gatherings, and a steady flow of ideas, Patricia Carlin has made a real impact in her first year on the team. That is exactly what the Collaboration and Engagement Award is meant to honor.

Upon receiving the award, Patrica says "I am so grateful to serve the Bluegrass IIBA CHapter as VP of Community. I have seen something come true that I always believed: that learning can be fun. Come join us to experience that not every meeting has to be super serious."

When discussing Patricia, fellow chapter volunteer Aaron Whittenberger says, "It has been a delight working with Patricia. She has brought fresh blood and ideas to our chapter leadership, and finds new ways to engage our community. She participated in performing mock job interviews for WKU students this year and looks for ways to engage those students in our programs."
