Mentors Wanted: Help a Fellow Business Analyst Grow
Bluegrass IIBA Mentoring Program seeks more mentors as mentees wait to be matched
Since the Bluegrass IIBA Mentoring Program launched on September 9, 2026, business analysis professionals across our community have stepped forward to ask for guidance. Mentees have signed up and are waiting to be paired with a mentor. We don’t yet have enough mentors to match them all, and we are asking you to help.
Cathy Krist, the program’s coordinator, is calling on experienced BAs across the Bluegrass region to consider signing up. “Every mentee on our list is looking for someone to talk with about their career, and each new mentor means another person gets that support,” she says.
About the Program
The Bluegrass IIBA Mentoring Program is free. It is open to the entire Bluegrass business analysis community, and IIBA membership is not required, so members and non-members can take part as mentors or mentees. Mentees are matched with a mentor for one or more of these areas:
- Career advice: perspective on the next step in a BA career
- Skills development: building the practical skills that make a stronger business analyst
- Career transitions: moving into business analysis or into a new BA role
- IIBA certification guidance: help choosing and preparing for the right certification
Why Become a Mentor?
You don’t need a perfect résumé or decades of experience. If you have lessons learned, hard-won habits, or a few good stories about what worked and what didn’t, a newer BA can benefit from them. Many mentors also find the relationship rewarding for themselves. Explaining your approach sharpens your own thinking, and you will meet someone new in the local BA community.
Mentoring is also a way to give back to the profession and to strengthen the BA community in the Bluegrass region.
