Topic: It's Not Mean, It's Clear
Feedback is essential at every level of the enterprise, but most people cringe at the thought of giving negative feedback. We’re conditioned from childhood not to say anything if it isn’t “nice”. As a result, we miss the opportunity to provide clear, meaningful feedback that can change relationships and outcomes. Instead, we suffer in silence or we dance around the topic leaving the receiver dazed and confused and everyone’s energy zapped. Let’s get rid of the old approaches like sandwiching the negative between two positives- you’ll just end up with a watered-down version of your truth. Let’s learn to say what we mean so we get what we want. The quality of your life is directly related to the quality of your dialog but most of us don't have the confidence or tools to communicate this directly. Traci Onkst is an Assistant Secretary at The Cincinnati Insurance Companies (CIC). She is the sponsor of the Cincinnati Insurance Company’s Business Analysis Center of Excellence; managing a team of 80 business analysts. Traci has dedicated most of her 30+ year insurance career to working with IT on various projects. For the last several years, Traci’s focus has been centered on building the business analysis brand at The Cincinnati Insurance Companies (CIC) and supporting the Center of Excellence professionals as they fulfill their mission.
Traci speaks regularly to executive, business and IT stakeholders advocating the value of the business analysis role. She spoke on product diagramming at the ACORD Implementation Forum and presented at BBC in 2015, 2017 and 2019. She is a driver for change at many levels and always looking for new ways to motivate and empower her team.
Traci has a passion for agile practices. She currently serves as Agile Transformation Leader at CIC. In partnership with other leaders, she promotes the agile mindset and helps implement agile practices at CIC. She is a certified Scrum Master and Product Owner.
