Panel Discussion: Navigating an Agile Transformation

Is your organization going through an agile transformation? Do you hear the word “agile” being spoken around work more, especially by management? Has your organization been going through the transformation for a little while now but it is not easy yet?

The Bluegrass IIBA Chapter will host a panel discussion of some of our Agile Enthusiasts who has gone through one or more agile transformations. They will share their experiences of navigating an agile transformation and how a business analyst operates in an agile environment.

Come to hear of these experiences and tips on how to effectively get through an agile transformation. Ask your questions to our panelists. You can share your current challenges of a transformation or operating in an agile environment to get advice on approaches to handle those challenges. This will prove to be a lively discussion, come participate in it!

Bill Phillips, CBAP, PSM, AAC is a member of our own Bluegrass IIBA Chapter where he serves as Director of Agile Certification. In this role he has developed a curriculum to prepare for the Agile Analysis Certification exam.  Bill is a Business Analysis Consultant and Trainer with over 35 years of experience in Information Technology delivering value to a widely diverse client base and has led the analysis efforts for multi-million dollar projects. He has focused on Agile delivery since 2013 and has served as a Product Owner on multiple international teams simultaneously.  Bill is passionate about lifelong learning and loves the variety and creativity required for Business Analysis.

Richard Power, CBAP, PSM values his membership within the Bluegrass IIBA Chapter for the excellent learning, professional growth, and networking opportunities it provides. A Certified Business Analyst Professional™ (CBAP®) and Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I®), he has been working in the area of Business Analysis for 20 years and enjoys the challenge of finding appropriate solutions for business problems, searching for the best way in which to communicate requirements and ideas, and collaborating with and learning from his colleagues. Currently a Senior Business Analyst at R. J. Corman Railroad Group, he previously worked as a Business Analyst for SQS and RW3 Technologies. He has also worked in the areas of education and music technology, and tries to bring his wide range of experience into his current work in order to provide a fresh perspective. When not at work he enjoys writing and performing music, hiking, reading, and being a dad.

Aaron Whittenberger, CBAP, CSPO, AAC is a Senior Business Analyst at Cincinnati Insurance Companies and has been going through the agile transformation for the past year. Within that year he obtained the IIBA®-AAC Certification. He has learned agile and scrum frameworks and has experienced the challenges of getting a delivery team to transition from a waterfall to an agile mindset. Aaron has 30 years of business and technology experience, including 17 years as a business analyst and 15 years as a consultant.
