Topic: The Value of Adding Business Architecture to Your BA Toolkit

Have you ever worked on a project only to find out that the solution was similar to another solution that is already being developed? Or provided a service that the organization no longer needed?

Organizations often limit projects to dealing with a specific problem statement that can be handled by a single project. However, this narrow focus often ignores the interactions between different initiatives and goals, allowing a solution to be deployed that doesn't optimize achieving the goals of the organization.

Business Architecture provides tools and techniques that provide value at both the enterprise level and the project level. By analyzing the "whys" behind the problem statement and the project, a business analyst can understand where the problem fits into the organization's eco-system, how a solution can add value, and answer the question "is the problem something that should be solved".

In this talk, David will show how business analysts can utilize tools and techniques from business architecture to ensure projects are tied into the organizations goals and maximize the value a project solution can provide.
