Topic: The Art of Eliciting Requirements

Have you ever gathered Easter eggs?  If only requirements were lying around waiting for us to collect them up in our BA Basket.  But requirements – current state, future state, gaps – are not static.  They live in people’s minds and even their arm muscle memory.  There are tools and techniques that business analysts use to draw the information out of people; such as reflective listening, continuous questions, the five Whys, and planning-planning-planning.  In this workshop you will learn and practice some of these techniques to make you a better questioner.  As Business Analysts we are working to Be Curious!

In this session participants will:

  • Learn effective elicitation techniques for BAs
  • Practice basic and tailored questions for stakeholders
  • Mirror information and listen actively to elicit information from stakeholders

Target Audience:

  • Project Business Analysts
  • Enterprise Business Analysts
  • Business Systems Analysts
  • Requirements Engineers
  • Business and Solution Architects
  • Business Relationship Managers
  • Project Managers
  • Managers of Business Analysts
  • IT Managers
  • BACoE and PMO Directors

Level:

  • Novice
  • Intermediate
  • Experienced
